The GE has been an eyeopener for first timers like us. We witnessed how our mainstream mass media got overshadowed by newer technology. Some don't agree. But the fact is politics will never be fair. The main objective is about winning the game more than anything else. Apologies started pouring in, ideologies that sounded too good to be true were spoken without any basis. As pathetic as it sounds, the ones that make the cut got eliminated due to the given circumstances. And the story has no end to it. As a first time voter, the GE has given me a greater understanding of Singapore politics, its significant players and what it means to be against the force. For me, participating in such an event was a time worth every minute. It is a shame that some would deliberately void their votes instead. GE2011 has a strong impact on the Y-gen cohort as well as PRs alike. Now that it is over, so will the saga surrounding it, slowly but surely. From an optimistic view, we are one tiny step closer to becoming a transformed Singapore.
